Most of the game is listening to people talking, and while the voice acting is well done it gets pretty tedious (also the main character sounds like Abbi from Broad City). I've played an hour 30 mins so far and I don't know if I'll befinishing it.If the puzzles were harder and you could skip the dialogue it would be better as most of the game length is the dialogue.. Really enjoyable. Wish there was an automatic saving periodically, even just at the start of each chapter. I almost lost my progress of more than an hour when my computer decided to restart. I luckily aborted teh restart but If it has of gone ahead I would have wasted an hour of my life. It is possessing of an innocent kind of charm and a sense of humor that doesn’t rely on shock value or trying to be over the top. It's hard for me to say if I can recommend or not this game. A very simple point and click, with few puzzles (some of them are the "try to get it right" which I hate it). The art is simply beautiful I love this aesthetics combined with the 70s style. The soundtrack really adds to that. Unfortunately that's the only good things I can say about the game. The acting in some character in the game are really reaaaaaaaaally too exaggerated that made me skip most of them lines (there is even one that seems like they recorded his voice in a tin can). The story could go somewhere as I like spy stuff and big conspiracies and they showed in a way very new, but they didn't do anything much with that. The story ends abruptly which, for me, in a adventure game its a crime. So, if you're going to buy it, wait for a sale. BUT buy the soundtrack too because it's so damn good.. The opening music reminds me of a Tarantino movie..... Went slightly downhill from there with the voice acting, but it's forgiveable. Puzzles have medium difficulty and it's a game I'll chip away at over the next week or so in order to break up AAA gaming sessions.. The Low Road is a beautiful point'n'click spy adventure with a good story and atmospheric music setting the scene. The art style seems somewhat familiar while still being its own thing and it is pretty much consistently applied. Character voices are excellent - although in one case (most likely intentionally) annoying. The story is deep enough and told in the way of a crime or indeed spy novel where the player may piece together the story slightly ahead of the avatar - and a second run will make it easier to spot early connections that may have been too obscure before. Apart from loading screens which got stuck every few hours there is only one puzzle that I feel was not quite polished. Altogether, The Low Road was a lot of fun hugely supported by exceptional presentation.+ Very consistent and its-own art style+ Well fitting music+ Excellent voice acting+ Engaging storyline+ Unobtrusive but helpful button prompts+ Skippable dialog0 One "trappy" puzzle- Occasionally the game breaks quietly on loading screensThere is a short ocean scene which is the only thing I remember where the environment, specifically the water, clashes with the overall art style.The storyline offers a few twists and turns and while it's not too deep or explanatory it seems a pretty much perfect fit, as far as pacing and suspense are concerned, for the, I estimate, five hours required for the first run through the game - maybe think of it like a good 120-page instead of a good 400-page novel.Occasionally but not annoyingly I got stuck on a loading screen without any indication that something was wrong, possibly with the exception of the music stopping at some point. More on that here.There is one puzzle in the game where the necessary inspiration may be set up badly or well depending on the player's choices. There is no getting out of the puzzle and so there is no reviewing auxiliary information and checking around once the puzzle has started. XGen Studio's finest work so far. I've enjoyed their games for a long time and seeing them release this masterpiece is really inspiring. The humor from the Stick RPG days still exists and the writing is extremely well done. I found the characters to be relatable, even the ones I disliked. I highly recommend this game, both for fans of previous XGen titles and those who are just now finding them. The soundtrack is phenominal as well. 10/10 game, extremely well worth it. Definitely going to do a few more playthroughs. I absolutely can not wait to see what XGen does next.. if you want to play a funny point & click adventure set in the 70s with great visuals, music, voiceovers and writing, look no further. it's not a long one, should take 3-4 hours, a bit more if you want to get all the achievements on your own. it's not difficult, the next step is always obvious and the minigames/puzzles aren't challenging for the most part either, though the controls make some of them a bit annoying.so it won't test your brain but I enjoyed it thoroughly, found the different dialog options and 'false endings' amusing as well, without having to worry about losing progress or not getting the one 'true ending' (something I really hate in games) because if you fail, the game just rewinds and lets you try again. it's all about fun, not frustration (save for a few puzzles), and definitely worth picking up.
